Description
Methionine is an essential amino acid. It is needed to help produce S-Adenosyl methionine (SAMe) through combination with Adenosine Triphosphate. It can be found in large amounts in fish, beans, eggs, Brazil nuts, lentils, garlic, yogurt, onions, various meats and some other plants and seeds.
The body needs Methionine because it helps produce Cysteine and Taurine, which help to support the cardiovascular system, build up healthy tissue and get rid of bad toxins. The body also uses these sulfur compounds to help develop healthy hair, nails and skin. Sulfur also aids the kidneys in getting rid of metallic toxins present.
Methionine is a lipotropic, which means it assists the liver in rapidly processing fats. It also helps to support the production of Glutathione, a compound that helps further detoxify the liver. Methionine is also necessary in the body’s natural production of Creatine, a chemical that is used to build muscle, support the cardiac region and create new energy.
Methionine also facilitates the body’s protein synthesizing functions, particularly in the case of muscle protein. Methionine also provides the body with much needed sulfur, necessary for the body to produce energy and help out with antioxidants in the system to prevent free radicals from damaging healthy cells. Methionine helps to break down fats and keeps the digestive system well supported.
