Description
Horsetail extract (Equisetum arvense) comes from a unique type of grass plant in the Equisetaceae family, the only family of plants that reproduce using spores rather than seeds. Horsetail is a living fossil, being the only living genus of the entire class Equisetopsida in the world. Equisetopsida dominated the forests of the late Paleozoic era. Horsetail contains large amounts of silica, which give it an abrasive texture. Horsetail (Equisetum arvense)has been used for centuries by indigenous peoples for a variety of uses ranging from sandpaper to folk remedies.
